๐พ Kyrgios's Second Serve In Court
Greetings, it's Wednesday, 24 August. We're going to warn you that in today's newsletter, a man attempts something with a hotdog that goes beyond the laws of physics and the space-time continuum. There, you've been warned. Now enjoy!

๐พKyrgios set for court doubles
As Nick Kyrgios prepares to play on the tennis court at the US Open, he's all set to appear in a couple of different legal courts.
Golden points: Yesterday, Kyrgios' lawyer fronted ACT Magistrates Court to have his hearing over a charge of common assault postponed until November this year because the tennis star isn't in the nation's capital that much these days.
A 3-month postponement was called an "indulgence" by the Magistrate, so the parties met in the middle and it's been put off until October 4.
This has all to do with the common assault allegations made last December that were then revealed in July during Kyrgios' Wimbledon final run. The victim is reportedly Kyrgios' ex-girlfriend, Chiari Passari.
Then overnight, the fan Kyrgios called "drunk out of her mind" during his Wimbledon final loss to Novak Djokovic announced she's suing Kyrgios for defamation.
Kyrgios complained to the chair umpire that Anna Palus, a Polish lawyer, looked like she'd had "700 beers" and was distracting him during points.
Palus was removed but returned after explaining she'd had only 2 drinks (a Pimmโs and rosรฉ) and was in fact supporting Kyrgios.
The vision of the blow-up was broadcast all over the world and Palus says the incident has caused her and her family "very substantial damage and distress".
They said it: "I am not litigious, but after much consideration, I have concluded that I have no alternative but to instruct my solicitors Brett Wilson LLP to bring defamation proceedings against Mr Kyrgios in order to clear my name. The need to obtain vindication, and to prevent repetition of the allegation, are the only reasons for taking legal action," - Palus is taking legal action.
What's next: In the short term, Kyrios has the US Open ahead of him, which starts on Monday. Following that he'll have to deal with the legal action against him.
QUICK SINGLES
๐ UFC: Alexander Volkanovski is the best fighter on the planet. That's not us saying that. He's been voted as the UFC's #1 pound-for-pound fighter by a media panel. He's the 1st Australian to have top spot and it's really no surprise - he's never lost in the UFC, won his last 22 professional fights and is so dominant in the featherweight division he's considering stepping up to the lightweight division. Not bad for a bloke who was playing rugby league about 10 years ago.
๐ NBA: Kevin Durant is staying put after all. On 30 July, Durant told the Brooklyn Nets big wigs we wanted to be traded despite signing a 4-year, $286 million contract extension. The Nets shopped Durant around for nearly 2 months but no team was willing to give up enough to make a deal work. But things have seemingly changed. Nets general manager Sean Marks says Durant is committed to the Nets for this season, so we'll finally get to see him team up with Kyrie Irving and Aussie Ben Simmons.
๐ Rugby: Super Rugby is considering more rules tweaks. A 60-second scrum clock? Check. No more yellow cards for deliberate knockdowns? You betcha. Less intervention by the television match official? Sure! These are just some of the rule changes the Super Rugby teams and broadcasters discussed last week at a conference in Auckland. The aim is to make the game flow better so it's a better product to watch, which will hopefully attract more eyeballs and in turn be worth more so broadcasters pay extra.
๐ AFL: Brisbane will be without Cam Rayner for their elimination final against Richmond. Rayner contested a rough conduct charge at the tribunal last night, but after the hearing, his one-match ban was upheld. Rayner wrapped up Melbourne's Ben Brown and tackled him face-first into the Gabba turf on Friday night that leaving Brown with a bloody nose. It's a big blow for the Lions, who will also be without suspended defender Noah Answerth.
LEFT OF FIELD
โพ๏ธ Baseball: We're not really sure how to adequately sum up what we witnessed at Yankee Stadium yesterday. In a nutshell, a fan sipped his beer through a hotdog straw. We know that doesn't make any kind of sense, so here's the vision to prove it.
๐ฝ Highlight reel: Now this is what you go to the baseball to see, not some weird culinary innovation. The Minnesota Twins pulled off a rare triple play in their match against the Texas Rangers.

Tuesday's result: 52.54% backed Shooter McGavin to beat Tiger Woods in a sudden-death golf playoff. Maybe it is Shooter's tour after all.
